Andrew Scott

Convenor, Nordic Policy Centre

Emeritus Professor Andrew Scott of Deakin University was the inaugural convenor of the Nordic Policy Centre from 2018 to 2023.

Andrew Scott teaches Australian politics, international comparative politics, economic policy, social policy, and political history at Deakin University. His books and articles have been extensively discussed in Australia and overseas. Andrew’s approach draws from his experience before entering academia as a senior national policy adviser on employment and training issues, as a research officer for a major trade union and as an elected student leader.

Andrew’s most recent book is The Nordic Edge: Policy Possibilities for Australia, which he co-edited with Australia Institute research director, Rod Campbell. This book explores how the Nordic approach to policymaking could shape Australia’s future for the better.
